About Me

Like many things in life I am passionate about cake decorating...........I love making and designing beautiful cakes that people then get to indulge their taste buds in! Here's a little history: In the spring of 2008 I was looking for a hobby -- something to keep me busy while my sweet hubby was obtaining his Masters Degree in Architecture at Texas A&M University! WHOOP! So I decided to enroll in the Wilton Cake decorating courses at my local Hobby Lobby. To say it changed my career plan would be an understatement. I didn't have any plans of making this a career but I quickly fell in love with the art of cake decorating and began dreaming about the possibilities! My co-workers were my guinea pigs, all of the cakes I made I took up to work and put in the break room, which proved to be a good business plan because I got quite a few cake orders from this alone! In May of 2009 I traveled all the way to Darien, IL where I took a 2-week Masters Course at The Wilton School of Cake Decorating. In addition to the Masters Course, I also took supplemental courses which honed my skills in Fondant & Gumpaste.  In June of 2009 my husband and I made a move from the small town of College Station, TX to the BIG city of Plano, TX. And it was then that I launched my cake business - Yum Scrum Cakes!!!! I got my first wedding cake order in August 2009, thanks to my best friend Alexis and have pretty much been advertising via word of mouth, which in my opinion is the best way to advertise! I have done countless birthday cakes and well over a dozen wedding cakes. I love working with new clients but always get a thrill out of working with repeat customers - it is the ultimate compliment!

Besides being a cake designer, I am also the wife to a wonderful husband, Adam, and I have the ultimate privilege of being the mother to one precious, blue-eyed, blonde-hair, baby-boy, Bennett. Adam & Bennett are the loves of my life! I also have a wonderful family! I'm one of 4 girls, which is so fun. My 3 sisters are my 3 very best friends and my parents are amazing. My dad especially instilled in me the entrepreneur spirit, of which I am forever grateful and I get to see first hand the benefits (and challenges) of owning your own business.

Here are a few of my other passions: spending time with the Lord, praise & worship on Sunday mornings, cooking, taking pictures of my precious baby boy, spending time with my sisters (and nieces and nephews), date night with my hubby, laughing, family vacations & looking through my keepsake box(es).

7-Tier Wedding Cake

Here is a 7-tier Wedding Cake! This was quite the cake. This cake was iced in Vanilla Buttercream and airbrushed in a Champagne shimmer color. It was detailed with black Fondant lace around the bottom borders and topped with a beautiful arrangement of white roses.

Happy Birthday Daddy

The month of March is a very busy month in the Panter household. All three of my boys celebrate the Birthday! Adam's is the beginning of March and Bennett & Beau's are at the end of the month. I let the boys help with Adam's cake this year! I of course iced the cake and then made a fondant topper that I let the boys "paint" with edible icing paint. I sure love their creation! A little modern and abstract! Stay tuned for what I have in store for my baby boys birthday cakes!

40th Birthday

This cake turned out just adorable. I love the colors and of course the detailing!
