Superhero Cake.........Take Two

This cake might look familiar...............I did nearly this exact cake a couple of months ago.  However, this cake was for a 23 year old birthday boy! You gotta love when a man is still a kid at heart! I did add a few extras on this cake, I made 3D black spiders to go on the top tier. I think this little touch really turned out nice!

Party Girl Cake

This cake is for an adorable 4-year old little girl.  The birthday girl knew exactly what she wanted in her cake.........................chocolate cake with pink icing, purple stripes and yellow flowers.............I love a girl that knows what she wants :)

Toy Story Cake

This cake turned out just as I had hoped! Although, the characters took a little longer than anticipated! I used my cricut cake machine to make the characters......................and let me tell you they cut out some itty-bitty pieces. Anyhow, I think the birthday boy will be pleased!

Cross Baby Dedication Cakes

I had the wonderful pleasure of working on these cross cakes for a set of precious twins, Kirby & Minnie. I have a soft spot for twins.................now that I am Aunt to the world's cutest twin girls. These cakes are for the twins 1st birthday party and they will also be having their baby dedication at the party, from what I understand.  These cakes are covered in fondant, which has a wood grain texture, and then I painted on the wood grain finish.  I finished off the cakes with the babies monograms, as well as pink and blue gumpaste flowers. I think they turned out beautiful!

Barney Cake

I think children birthday cakes are my favorite cakes to work on.............they always put a smile on my face! The Barney on this cake is made completely out of fondant, this was actually my 1st 3D figure to mold out of fondant. And I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

Black Lab Cake

I've done several 3D cakes but I would say that this has probably been the most challenging yet.  My wonderful hubby did all of the hard work..............................he carved the body of the doggie out of cake. And then we worked on the head of the doggie together. The body of the cake is my favorite cake combination - red velvet cake w/ cream cheese frosting and then the head is made out of rice krispy treats. All of which is covered in black fondant.  I'm pleased with how this cake turned out but I think the head shape needed a little more tweaking..................better next time! Stay tuned************I have about a billion  more cakes coming for this weekend! Here's what you can look forward to............Barney Cake, Superhero Cake, Toy Story Cake, Twin Baby dedication Cross Cakes,  & Party cake for a soon to be 4 year old.

Parkland Hospital Construction Cake

This cake was for HDR, Inc., and they are the Architects designing the NEW Parkland Hospital! My AMAZING hubby, Adam, is on the design team for the hospital.  The deadline for the design of the hospital was on Friday, so they are having a BIG party to celebrate everyone's hard work and dedication to the project! And they asked me to do the cake! Of course, I was thrilled to accept! I recently purchased a cake printer..............so I was able to print the actual cover sheet for the construction plans, which was a really fun touch. Then another fun touch was the "Post it" notes, which are little notes from the bosses on the project. Everything on the cake is edible, the post-it notes, hard hat, and pencil. I think it looks pretty legit and am so pleased with how it turned out!   I have to give a shout out to my awesome husband....................Adam, thank you for always loving me unconditionally, for always encouraging me and for bringing your amazing architecture an

Lingerie Shower Cake

Woo La La................I would not normally subscribe to doing a risque cake, but I think in certain situations, like this, it is FUN. This cake is for a very dear friend who is getting married in May.............less than one month away. I know Cristina will be a beautiful bride and I'm looking forward to showering her with lingerie tomorrow!

Mini Floral Birthday Cake

This cake was for one of my very best friends Kristin! Kristin and I have known each other since 4th grade................that's a long time.  We've been there for each other through thick and thin and all of the lovely awkward stages of life!  Kristin is so fun and trendy..........she always has the cutest, funky hair styles, so I wanted to design a cake that represented her! This design was actually inspired by another one of my good girl friends, Monica. Monica, designs and makes handmade headbands for little girls. She is so crafty and creative and you should definitely check out her Etsy store - Bonjour MaeMae . I love how this cake turned out!

Floral & Alligator Imprint Cake

This birthday cake was for my sister, Stephanie! Stephanie is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet and she is so fun and trendy! So I wanted to do a cake that would represent her fun spirit! This cake was covered in fondant, which had a very subtle alligator imprint. I then topped the cake with gumpaste flowers and trimmed it with a bead border.

Bennett's One Year Smash Cake

Several weeks ago Bennett had the opportunity (& privilege) to be photographed by the most amazing photographer, Stephanie Southard.  Stephanie is not only the World's Best Photographer but she is also the World's Best Sister!  Stephanie and I do a little bartering......................she has 3 precious kiddos so we swap birthday cakes for photo sessions :) You can't beat that.  Anyhow, this is just one of her sweet pictures but you can take a look at her website, http://www.stephaniesouthardphotography.com/ , to see her complete portfolio and to contact her about booking a session!

Harry Potter Cupcakes

I did these cupcakes several weeks ago and am just now finding time to add pictures to my blog................life is too busy sometimes! These turned out super cute.  The Harry Potter glasses are made out of gumpaste, so they are totally edible.  From what I hear the Birthday girl loved them!
