Rapunzel

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let your hair down! Rapunzel is one of my favorite disney character so I was thrilled to do another "Rapunzel" themed cake! The cupcake toppers turned out super cute too!

Sonic

I had the opportunity to work on Christopher's 6th Birthday Cake! It is always fun to work on little boys cakes because it gives me a glimpse of what my future holds raising two little boys myself. I always wonder, "will my boys be into this character"? Only time will tell! Nonetheless "Sonic" is made out of gum paste and completely edible.

We love surprises

I just love working on "surprise party" cakes! And this cake was for a very special birthday girl! I'm not sure which Birthday she was celebrating but it is safe to say she doesn't look a day past 21!
I love this Fall cake design. It makes me want to curl up next the fireplace with a cup of Hot Cocoa while watching a good movie. Lets be honest that hardly ever happens so I'll just dream about that. This cake was for my nephew's First Birthday! Rachel out did herself! It was such a fun, elegant party. She whipped up a sit down dinner for about 20 adults and 15+ kids, everything was decorated beautifully and so warm and cozy. Mac is such a sweet, easy-going boy! And I love that we did a "turkey" cake for his smash cake. Although, he wasn't really interested in eating ;)

A little bit sassy

Bachelorette party................need I say more ;)

Campout Cakes

The Southards know how to party, or should I say Stephanie knows how to throw an awesome party! This was such a fun party! The party was a "campout" themed party. It was complete with a fishing, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, painting bird houses, playing in tents and a rockin scavenger hunt! The girlies cakes were more of a "Troop Beverly Hills" style camping, do y'all remember that movie? And Kaden's cake was all boy, complete with a 3D fondant tent and a mini-me gum paste figurine!

Painted Pretty

This cake is for my beautiful sister, Molly. While it is not nearly as beautiful as she is I do think it turned out beautiful! I am by no means an artist but I achieved the look I was going for........I love when that actually happens, it seems the opposite generally happens!

Spiderman Cupcakes

Little Boys & Superheros............what more can I say! These cupcakes were made for my precious nephew Kaden. I can't believe that sweet boy is 5 years old!

Little Lion's 1st Birthday Cake

What a cute cake design! Mommy Syd chose this design for her sweet baby boy, Malakai, 1st birthday! I just love the bright colors and cute, fondant figures!  I have known Syd for 20+ years and am best friends with her sister, Alexis, so it was such an honor to work on this cake. Of the pictures I saw on Facebook it looks like Malakai (& cousin Hudson) had quite the fun time!

Beautiful Wedding

I just love the rustic meets shabby chic trend in wedding design this year! It has been over a year since I've done a wedding cake of this size but I am just giddy with how it turned out! Morgan was the easiest bride to work with and I hope that she and Bubba have a blessed and happy marriage! Now on to the Groom's Cake.......................... What a fun cake this was to work on! The Groom proposed to Morgan at a place called the "Shack" and so the Groom's parents called on Yum Scrum Cakes to replicate the special place to surprise him! From what I heard the Groom Loved it! Here is a picture of the "Shack"...........I think it looks pretty close to the real thing. What do you think?

Traditional Birthday Cake

This classy traditional cake was for my very dear friend Monica! Her sweet momma called on Yum Scrum Cakes to make Monica's cake and I just love the traditional design she chose! It's not everyday that I get to make gumpaste roses!

A Very HUNGRY Caterpillar

This cake may be my new favorite design! I just love all of the fun details! I can't take credit for the design but I think I did a wonderful job replicating it and adding a few extra details!

Reagan's Baptism Cake

This beautiful Baptism Cake was made for one of my new favorite customers! Theresa has used Yum Scrum Cakes for her daughter's 1st Communion cake, a going away party and now her son's Baptism. I love having returning customers, especially when they are as sweet as Theresa!

Pretty Little Princess

I just love the simple beauty of this cake!

Minnie Mouse 1st Birthday

This is such a sweet design that my customer found online! I can't get enough of those sweet minnie mouse ears!!!!!

Ambre Birthday Cake.......Take 2

I still LOVE this design! So pretty!

Precious & Sweet

These precious little cakes were made for the cutest couple you will ever meet.............Luke & Janae, my brother-n-law and my sister-n-law! Their birthdays are about a month apart and so when they were in town visiting we had a little birthday lunch with them! For Luke's cake I did a buttercream ambre design! I think it turned out just delightful! For Janae's cake I found a smilar design on pinterest and have been waiting to use it for just the right girl :)

Big Bot

I always LOVE working on kids cake, I only wish I could see the kiddos faces when they see their birthday cake! I am hoping that Mr. Oliver liked his cake!

Super Cowboy Cake

This cake was for my Father-n-law! I did a Texas themed cake a few weeks ago and I had made an extra cowboy hat with my father-n-law's birthday cake in mind. Tom-tom, as he is affectionately called by his grandson Bennett, just seemed like the right thing to put on the belt buckle! And Gwen my mother-n-law wanted to incorporate a "Superman" cape because she thinks Tommy is her superman! I think it turned out sooooo cute!

Pinterest Worthy Wedding

I love the vintage feel of this cake...........not to mention the green hydrangeas which are my favorite flower! I wish I would have taken pictures of the this outdoor wedding! It was absolutely breath-taking! Every detail looked just perfect and worthy of a "re-pin" We also did an assortment of cupcakes of which were displayed just beautifully!

Let's PAR - TEE

This cake turned out so cute! My customer found a few pictures online and we combined them into this handsome cake! I love the hues of green and I especially love the argyle pattern!

Howdy.......Partner!

This is such a cute cake...............well I think so at least :) This cake was for a very special family that is saying farewell to Texas and moving east! You can't tell as well from this picture but the bottom tier has detailing that looks like a pair of wrangler jeans! And then I just love the 3D Cowboy hat sitting on top!

Birdcage Beauty

I think this cake turned out just beautiful! And I just love the simple elegance of this baby shower cake. The hostesses decorated the shower around a beautiful antique birdcage and so as I was searching for cake ideas I came across a similar cake and thought this design would be just perfect!

Pretty in Blue

This cake was made for one of my all-time favorite customers.........Miss Hannah Sultemeier!  The Sultemeier family has been so supportive of Yum Scrum Cakes and for that I am so grateful. They are one of the kindest families you will ever meet! Hannah also happens to be one of my little sister's best friends and so she is precious to our family too!

Baby Onesie Reveal

I love this cake! And I just love the little family that I made this for! Casey & Trey will be welcoming their precious baby in October and I am absolutely thrilled for them. Casey was born to be a momma and she has been anticipating this baby since I've known her! Casey & Trey just moved back to Abilene where they both grew up and where their families live. I am so happy for them but also really sad to see them leave Dallas. My husband & I were in Community group with them through our church and so they feel like family!

I HEART cupcake toppers

Cupcake toppers are a great way to spruce up a basic cupcake. And what is great about these cupcake toppers is that they are 100% edible ;) Over the years I have found that kids LOVE & WILL eat anything they can, which is why they love fondant cupcake toppers!

Sombrero Cake

This Super fun cake was for Apolo's 25th anniversary with HDR.  Evidently Apolo LOVES Cinco de Mayo and so they did a BIG fiesta inspired party to celebrate his 25+ years of hard work with the firm.

Carnival Shower Cake

This cake was for my very, very close friend Alexis! Lex & I have been friends for 20+ years, it is so hard to believe. We met in 3rd grade where we were both "new kids" in class and have been inseparable since! I am so thrilled that Alexis & Travis will be welcoming a precious baby BOY at the end of June! Alexis had the most amazing baby shower, which was carnival themed! I helped out a little bit but Lex's sister Syd did all of the decorating and let's just say it was AMAZING! But I do think  the cake turned out super fun! I found this design online and copied it ;)

Rapunzel, Rapunzel.............let your hair down!

Children's Birthday Cakes are my very favorite cakes to work on...........and from the above pictures I think you might see why! Is this not the most precious cake you ever did see! I am so pleased with how it turned out! This cake started with a little trip to Lowe's. Why a home improvement store you might ask? Well, we (My hubby & I) were trying to brainstorm the mechanics of how to suspend the cottage while making sure that it was structurally sound :) We rigged up a PVC set up that I think fit the job! But back to the cake, the cottage portion is made out of rice krispies which was then covered in fondant and accessorized. And I think the detail that makes it perfect is Rapunzel's hair flowing out the window! Just precious!

Garden Party fit for a Princess

This precious cake is for my future daughter-n-law! Haha! Sweet Mae Margot will be the future bride for my handsome boy Bennett! That is if Mae doesn't mind being driven around in a MONSTER truck.......because let's just say the boy is obsessed with trucks. Okay so I can only hope that Mae & Bennett marry one day but I guess I will let them decide! Haha. Anywho, Mae turned 3 and she had a darling little garden party, I was so sad I couldn't attend but my boys did and they had a wonderful time! I love how simple and sweet this cake turned out to be!

Sarah's 1st Communion Cake

I love working with new customers..................especially those that have tasted my work and then decide to use Yum  Scrum for their next special event! This cake was just that! I made a baby shower cake for Theresa and she was so in love with the chocolate cake that she asked me to make her daughter's 1st communion cake this past weekend! What an honor. Theresa emailed a few different cake designs that she found online so we meshed a few ideas into this pretty cake!

Josh's 1st Communion Cake

I had the privilege of working with the Eckert family for this 1st communion cake! There are just some people that are too sweet for words............Josh's mom is one of those people. Jennifer is so so sweet! I met Jennifer through my sister Stephanie and they are in a play group together. I also had the privilege of making Jennifer's 40th Birthday cake and then this past weekend I got to make her son's 1st communion cake! I found this design idea online and Jennifer loved the mosaic cross! Congrats Josh!

Reveal Cake

I love this sweet design of the baby reveal cake! The mother-to-be found this design online and I was thrilled to replicate it!

30th Birthday Surprise

Don't you just love a good Surprise! I know I sure do! Well my amazing Brother-n-law started conspiring in January for my Sister's 30th Birthday in April.............he got the sisters in on the surprise too! And I am happy to say that Stephanie was completely surprised! It was such a fun night. I saw this cake idea on pinterest and I think it turned out super fun!

Flowers & Butterflies

This baby shower cake was for my very dear friend Rachel Atkins! Rachel is such a sweetheart.......a true southern belle! Rachel & Tim are welcoming a baby girl, Leah, at the end of June, and we could not be more excited for them. We are going to be related one day because my sweet Beau is going to be Leah's future husband! Haha.

My Oh My..............its been too long!

It seems that life has gotten in the way, again..........I think I've said that with each monthly post ;) haha. I need to get back in the routine of posting weekly, but having two little boys keeps me busy for sure so I will give myself some grace :) I hope you do to! This is a semi repeat cake but just a 1-tier version and a slight color change. But I do love the design!

MONSTER Truck

Raising two little boys has opened my eyes to the whole new world of MONSTER trucks! And boy do they (especially my 3yr old) LOVE monster trucks. Bennett & Beau are 2 years and 2 days apart so we had a huge joint birthday party to celebrate their 3rd and 1st birthdays. Boy was it fun! We had a monster truck bounce house (who knew they had a monster truck bounce house ;), I made little monster truck box cars for each kiddo, I even had personalized cups made for party favors and our little family all wore Monster truck shirts. It was too fun! My amazing husband helped me with this cake, as he always does when I take on 3D cakes. He is an architect you know.......so we got to use those skills where we can! Haha. He sketched out the truck then carved it for me and then I finished her off! We make a great team! The cake was a BIG hit! I also did a 3D smash cake in the shape of a "Tire" for sweet Beau -- our Beau LOVES to eat.....he nearly ate the whole cake! Love
